“Messiah The Musical in Concert!”

A Musical Celebration Greater Than Tradition!
Music & Lyrics by Jeremiah Ginsberg
Book by Jeremiah Ginsberg and Wendy Ginsberg

Jeremiah Theatricals presented three thrilling performances of Messiah The Musical in Concert at the Lisner Auditorium on the George Washington University Campus in Washington, DC in June of 2022. Hundreds of people attended. It was a smashing success!

What’s it about? The musical begins with Mendel Moskowitz alone in his Brooklyn apartment, praying to God in song. Not getting an immediate answer, he falls asleep. What then unfolds is a fantastical journey! Set to a gorgeous Broadway-style score, Yeshua (Jesus in Hebrew) takes Mendel on a whirlwind tour back in time to Ancient Jerusalem where he meets the Disciples as well as the buffoonish Beelzebub and the Demons.

A dramatic, sometimes hilarious battle between good and evil ensues not only for Mendel but also between Yeshua and Beelzebub. Yeshua is triumphant over Beelzebub, death and hell. And Mendel is transformed from questioning the meaning and significance of his life to becoming a Believer, filled with inspiration, hope and joy!

With uplifting universal appeal, with the epic quality of a “Fiddler On The Roof” and with exquisite music comparable to Gershwin or Richard Rodgers, Messiah The Musical in Concert brings the Gospel story gloriously alive on stage!

Messiah The Musical In Concert featured, among other prominent performers, European Opera star, Graciela Araya, as the Mother of Yeshua. She has an extensive operatic repertoire. Her signature part is the title role in Carmen which she has performed over 400 times. As a Guest Artist, Graciela has performed leading roles with The Royal Opera in London, the Opera National de Paris, The Metropolitan Opera in New York City, the Los Angeles Opera, Seattle Opera and Carnegie Hall.

Ballet Magnificat! The most prominent Christian Ballet company in the world with its legendary dancers were also featured in the musical! (https://www.balletmagnificat.com/)

Messiah The Musical is now entitled, “Mendel’s Messiah!” This year, 2024, the Ginsbergs are planning to make a movie that will be seen around the world to brilliantly glorify the Lord!
